Journal of Genes and Cells uses a strict system of two-stage peer review of articles to assess their novelty, originality, significance for fundamental and / or applied scientific disciplines, the quality of research performance and presentation.
Internal review is carried out by the editorial board. External peer review & ndash; members of the editorial board and other distinguished experts in their respective scientific fields.
All stages of working with manuscripts are described in detail in the paragraph « Review process ».
The editorial board relies on the recommendations of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors (ICMJE), according to which each of the co-authors of the article had to make a significant contribution to all three of the following aspects:
— Concept and design; and / or collection and analysis of data; and / or interpretation of data.
— Writing the first draft of the article and / or correcting it.
— Final approval of the article submitted for publication.
A mandatory document for the initial submission of an article is ‘Authors’ Contribution Form’ , which is filled in by the author for correspondence. The editors reserve the right to add the section « Contribution of authors », formed on the basis of the submitted form, at the end of the article, before the section « Literature. » & Nbsp;
The credibility of the research results presented by the authors, the correct citation of scientific literature given in the bibliographic list is the responsibility of the authors.
An author for correspondence can only be one representative of the author’s team, performing the initial submission of the manuscript to the editor. The Corresponding Author is responsible for all correspondence, carried out by e-mail, with the editors of the Journal in relation to work with the manuscript submitted by him.
Sources of both private and public funding for research should be indicated in the article, in the section « Acknowledgments » & nbsp;
Conflicts of Interest
When submitting a manuscript, authors are required to declare any obvious or possible conflicts of interest or their absence. The Editorial Board of the Journal reserves the right to publish the text on disclosure of conflicts of interest at the end of the article.
All studies conducted on animals must be performed in strict accordance with international guidelines for the humane treatment of laboratory animals. Pointing to this should appear in the Materials and Methods section.
Clinical trials of registered drugs and medical devices, as well as approved medical technologies, do not require mandatory approval by the Ethics Councils or regulatory authorities, but must be performed in accordance with good clinical practice. All patients to be included in the study must sign a voluntary informed consent form, an indication of this should be placed in the Materials and Methods section.
Clinical trials of unregistered medicinal products and medical devices must be authorized by the relevant government regulatory authorities (in particular, the Federal Service for Surveillance in Healthcare) and approved by the Ethics Council (in particular, the Ethics Council for the Circulation of Medical Devices). < / p>
Registration of clinical trials
All protocols (programs) of clinical trials must be published in at least one of the open specialized registries (for example, www.clinicaltrial.gov ) before starting the research. In the case of clinical trials of registered medicinal products and medical devices, as well as medical technologies approved for use, it is permissible to publish on the website of the clinical base that performed the study.
The editors reserve the right to request from the authors the full text of the approved clinical trial program with a list of all changes made, as well as the approved statistical analysis plan with a list of all changes made. These documents can be used for reviewing, as well as placed in additional materials of the published article.
Personal data of patients
Authors are obliged to remove from the manuscript any personal information of patients that can be used to identify them. If it is impossible to delete such information, the authors are obliged to provide the patient’s signed consent to the processing and publication of personal data.
The choice of methods for statistical analysis of the data obtained belongs to the authors In the course of reviewing manuscripts, the editorial staff assesses the compliance of the methods of statistical data analysis used by the authors with the existing recommendations.
The editors reserve the right to request the original (« raw ») data from the authors to check the correctness of the statistical analysis performed by the authors.
Any manipulations with pictures that distort the data presented on them are unacceptable, such as: changing the shape, size of picture elements, colors, moving, deleting individual elements; general settings for brightness, contrast and color rendition, hiding individual elements of the original image. Duplication of images should be excluded. It is inadmissible to use non-original images without the written consent of their authors and owners of rights to these images. & Nbsp;
The editors reserve the right to request metadata for the submitted images.
Originality of work
For publication in the journal « Genes and Cells » manuscripts are considered that have not been previously published in part or in full. Between the stages of reviewing, the editorial board checks the manuscript in the Antiplagiat system. In cases of revealing the fact of the previous partial or complete publication of the results, as well as in the case of originality less than 85% in the Antiplagiat copyright & ndash; the article is rejected.
The editors admit the following cases of publication of the results of work prior to submitting an article:
— Presentation of results at scientific conferences with publication in the form of abstracts.
— Posting results on servers of non-profit organizations for discussion in the medical community.
— Delivering results to government regulators for formal or public health requests. & nbsp;
— Publication of results in the text of patents for inventions to substantiate claims.
Full texts of articles in Russian with abstract data in English are freely available on the Russian and English versions of the site of the journal Genes and Cells; within 7 days after the approval of the final version of the article accepted for publication. The site is an electronic version of the Journal. DOI is registered for all articles before publication.
Once a quarter, the editorial office publishes a printed version of the Journal, which includes articles posted in the electronic version for the previous period.
After accepted The author’s license agreement is sent to the author for publication for correspondence, according to which the authors donate the rights to publish, distribute, sell the article to the editorial board of the journal Genes and Cells.
Since the Journal publishes the full texts of articles in the open access, in order to maximize accessibility to a wide audience of readers and increase the citation of works, the editors of the Journal are forced to charge a fee for publishing articles based on the volume and number of color illustrations.
